Obra Milpa Burl Wood Coffee Table

The Obra Coffee Table is a sculptural centerpiece made from salvaged milpa burl wood and naturally weathered steel. Each section of burl is carefully sliced, shaped, and wrapped by hand around a solid steel and hardwood core, allowing the organic edges and flowing grain to form a layered, architectural surface.

The burl wood is left intentionally irregular, preserving its natural contours, textures, and dramatic patterns. This gives the table a sense of movement and depth, as if the wood is unfolding across the form. The weathered steel base provides a strong visual contrast, grounding the piece while enhancing the raw, material driven character.

Two distinct finishes offer different expressions of the same form. Sunbleached Milpa pairs pale, naturally faded burl with a dark oxidized steel base for an organic, weathered look. Mismo features hand stained burl over a warm copper toned steel base, creating a rich, monochromatic appearance with added depth and warmth.

Every Obra table is handcrafted in Mexico using reclaimed wood and naturally oxidized steel. Variations in grain, tone, shape, and patina are part of the design, ensuring that each piece is completely unique.
